Capus Miller Waynick (1889-1986), born in Rockingham County, N.C., was the son of Joshua James Newton and Anna (Moore) Waynick. He attended the University of North Carolina, and he married Elizabeth McBee in 1915. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and began his political career as a member of the North Carolina House in 1931. He later served as a North Carolina state senator, chairman of the North Carolina State Highway and Public Works Commission, Ambassador to Nicaragua and Colombi...
